Within Surface Modification, we focus on lubricious coatings, prohealing and biocompatible coatings, as well as cell encapsulation technology. Our coatings improve the performance of many marketed devices such as catheters, guidewires, pacemaker leads, and more.
Our Drug Delivery segment has developed expertise in local and systemic drug delivery of small to large molecule drugs through various technology platforms. Using durable and biodegradable polymer coating technology, implants, and microparticles, drug therapies can be delivered to a specific part of the body over a period of time. SurModics’ acquisition of Brookwood Pharmaceuticals in 2007 added strength in injectable microparticles and implant technology, both based on biodegradable polymers, to provide sustained and systemic drug delivery for various clinical applications.
The In Vitro Technologies business focuses on diagnostic test components and coating technologies for diagnostic and research purposes, including rapid diagnostics, genomic slides and cell culture.
